Can You Commit?

Health isn’t about being “perfect” with food or exercise or herbs. Health is about balancing those things with your desires. It’s about nourishing your spirit as well as your body.

I’m reaching deep back into my childhood for this one – “It’s Not Easy Being Green”. Kermit the frog used to sing this song more years ago than I care to admit; however it sums up the reality of committing to a healthy lifestyle. It isn’t always easy. Sometimes it’s downright hard but it is ALWAYS worth the effort.

In recent years it seems like the trend in healthcare has become – “which pill can I take for this ailment?” If you find yourself wondering if you’ve remembered the red pill for migraines, the white pill for blood pressure, the green pill for cholesterol, the orange pill for anxiety and so on, perhaps it’s time to take a step back and think about wellness from another perspective.

Balance isn’t necessarily achieved with pills…there are other options. You can commit to changing your lifestyle for the better. Pills have their place but your body is a brilliant piece of machinery designed to run with perfection. By committing to making sure you put healthy things into it you will inevitably get health out of it in return.

If you want to lose weight – commit to eating healthy. Put down that biscuit and reach for an apple instead. Smaller portions, more often will help your body feel full. Replace empty calories with meals full of fibre and protein to keep your body humming along happily.

Do you want to get in shape? Then commit to it. We all say we’re too busy but how much time do we waste playing on our phones? Or binge watching the latest show on Netflix? We can find the time. Even 10 or 15 minutes a day is a good start.

Acupuncture can help you on your road to natural healing – by helping restore the balance of your body’s natural defenses – the meridian system. Once balance is restored it is easy to maintain and keep it working.

The truth is that there is no one stop shop for health. You can’t swallow a pill and magically feel better all the time. The reality is commitment to a new lifestyle that includes healthy eating, exercise, natural therapies like acupuncture and a belief in yourself and what you are trying to achieve.

Your body is amazing but it needs your love, time, attention and commitment to keep it running smoothly. Take care of yourself, be kind to yourself and remember – we are here to help you on your journey to a better you.
